Officially Married To Lehi.

Hi. The world's worst blogger, here.

I'M SO SORRY OK, I KNOW, I'M THE WORST.

You guys. My life is absolutely moving at the speed of light. Seriously.
A new chapter will get started, and then 2 days later we're moving onto another one, and then we are only in that chapter for a few hours before starting an entirely new one again.
IT'S CRAZY AND CHAOTIC, BUT I'M LOVING EVERY SECOND OF IT.

This week's chapter happened to be a HUGE ONE.

Cole got "sworn in" as a police officer for Lehi Police.
CAN YOU EVEN BELIEVE THAT?

Last night he put on his uniform, and I couldn't even function.
I kept covering my face and squealing.
I was really mature and really accepting.
Yeah...

He has his first gig tonight.
I probably shouldn't call it a "gig," because it's a pretty serious part of his life, but I'm going to anyway.

They are doing a check-point tonight.

I wasn't even aware these things existed.
But, I guess they go to a random spot in Lehi, and stop every car that drives through that spot.
And anyone who is suspicious or under the influence or anything like that, pretty much is just screwed.

Don't worry, I'm not spilling any huge secrets or anything, they already announced that it's happening in the newspaper.

I'M SO EXCITED FOR HIM.
But I'm also really sad, because he's going to miss our softball games.
The sacrifices you make for careers, huh? ;)

ANYWAY.
Yesterday we went to the Court House where him and 2 other guys were "sworn in" as Police Officers.
Which pretty much was a judge asking them to repeat after him and promise all this stuff.
It kind of reminded me of marriage?
You know, "I, Amanda Grace, promise to love Cole Ryan," blah blah blah.
So that's how I look at "swearing an officer in" now.
They're officially married to the safety of the Lehi community.

I don't think you guys understand how lucky we are to be a part of the LEHI Police Department, of all places.

See this guy here?
This is Chief Smith.
And he is one of the most genuine, most inspired, most family-oriented men I have ever come in contact with.
The only way I can explain what working under Chief Smith is like, is like this:
Cole is now a husband first, and a Police Officer second.

That really is how it is.
Chief Smith understands how important family is.

Police Officers see things you wouldn't wish your worst enemy to see.
They see the cold, ignorant, evil side of the world.
And if you don't have a solid foundation at home, you're not going to survive in the cold world.

Chief Smith knows that more than anyone.
So he doesn't view his role as making these men "badge-hungry" guys who are out to ticket anyone who even slightly breaks the law.
He views his role as making these men GOOD MEN who can survive in a world of violence and hate.
He views his role as building an army who knows when a ticket is necessary, and when giving a warning can be just as effective.

I love Chief Smith.
I really do.

And I feel SO BLESSED that we ended up being a part of HIS department.
Because Cole is the single most important thing in my life, and I don't know what I would do if I lost him to the coldness of the world.
I don't have any fear of that happening, because of the wonderful place he is now working.

We are so excited for this new chapter in our lives!!!

I am so excited to continue learning about life from Chief Smith.
And I so incredibly proud of my hard-working husband!
He really does love what he does.

I really am his #1 fan.
